The Vox president, Santiago Abascal, has swelled tonight the list of politicians infected by the coronavirus. It has been the leader of the ultra party who has made him known in a tweet in which he assures that, after learning that his secretary general, Javier Ortega Smith, had tested positive for the Covid-19, he decided to undergo a test by a private laboratory. “The test has also been positive so I will continue working from each house. Thank you for your concern, although I am reasonably well ”, he concludes.

Abascal adds that he will ask the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, that the meeting with the political leaders that he has announced for Monday be held by videoconference, in order to participate in it.

Ortega Smith was the first politician who made public that he was contaminated by the virus, which led Vox to quarantine its 52 deputies and the president of Congress, Meritxell Batet, to suspend the activities of the House.

The list was later expanded with the also Vox deputy for Cádiz Carlos Zambrano; former Minister and Vice President of Congress Ana Pastor, of the PP; and today, the Minister of Equality Irene Montero, of Unidas Podemos, and the Minister of Territorial Policy, Carolina Darias, of the PSOE.

Although the main parties are already infected by the pandemic among their ranks, at the moment the most affected is Vox, since this Thursday it has been known that the general secretary of their group, Macarena Olona, ​​has also tested positive.
