Yuriy Perevoshchikov, director of the Department of Risk Analysis and Prevention of Infectious Diseases, said Thursday morning that Covid-19 had been detected in 17 people in Latvia and 76 tests had been conducted.
As reported, restrictions imposed by the state’s state of emergency take effect today in Latvia. The country’s state of emergency has been declared in relation to the spread of Covid-19 and will remain in effect until April 14 with the aim of limiting the spread of infection.
Meanwhile, worldwide Covid-19 cases in more than 118,000 people in 114 countries have died and more than 4,200 people have died from the disease, according to World Health Organization (WHO) data.
WHO Director General Tedross Adhanom Gebreiesus said on March 11 that the outbreak of the new coronavirus had reached a global pandemic.
