Cases of COVID-19 in Israel have increased by 40% in the last 24 hours, reaching 427, which shows an acceleration in the number of infections, as mass testing is implemented, informs Agerpres.

After urging Israelis to stay home and approve cyber-monitoring of COVID-19 cases to reduce the risk of infection, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at least 3,000 new coronavirus tests will be performed daily.

Netanyahu said he expects between 3,000 and 5,000 tests each day and compared Israel in this regard to South Korea, a country that tests about 15,000 people a day, at a population about five times larger. than that of Israel.

“We will reach a situation where there are many hundreds of new patients every day, and even more, possibly,” said Moshe Bar Siman-Tov, director general of the Ministry of Health for the Israeli Army Radio.

Five of the 427 patients – up from 304 reported Tuesday morning – are in critical condition, the Israeli Ministry of Health said.
