Criticism of China multiplies with each passing day. And they do not come only at the governmental or official level.
An extremely harsh reply from Bild editor-in-chief to Chinese President Xi Jinping: “Close the critical newspapers, but not the bats with lily soup. Coronavirus will be your political end ”
The Beijing government is pointing the finger at the rest of the world for not knowing how to handle the situation in Wuhan, hiding information, and thus the pandemic. But not only the officials of other states criticize the Chinese, but also the journalists.
Julian Reichelt, editor-in-chief of the German daily “Bild”, published an extremely harsh letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping. Chief Bild’s reaction comes as a result of a reaction from the Chinese Embassy in Germany, which was disturbed by an article that talked about the payment of compensation following the coronavirus pandemic.
“Drive by control. You wouldn’t be president without control. You monitor everything, every citizen, but you refuse to monitor the wet, sick markets in your country. Close all the newspapers and critical sites to your rules, but not the stalls where the lily soup is sold. Not only are you monitoring your population, but you are also endangering it and with the rest of the world.
The Washington Post wrote that your Wuhan labs have been researching coronavirus in bats, but without maintaining the highest safety standards. Why aren’t your toxic laboratories as safe as prisons for political prisoners?
You are planning to strengthen China with a disease that you exported. You will not succeed. Sooner or later, Coronavirus will be your political end ”, were among the harshest messages sent by Julian Reichelt to the Beijing leader through the open letter.
Bild is not only the most widely read newspaper in Germany, but also throughout Europe.
