Last day, 13 people got Covid-19 in Liepaja without any changes

The number of dead Covid-19 patients in Latvia has reached 11, according to the latest data of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC).

According to the SPKC, two Covid-19 patients died in the past day – in the age groups of 80 to 85 years and in the age group of 50 to 55 years. Both had chronic conditions that contributed to the severe course of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, 1364 Covid-19 examinations were performed in the last day and the disease was confirmed in 13 cases.

Thus, so far a total of 39,336 Covid-19 tests have been performed in Latvia, but infection has been detected in 761 persons.

Zita Lazdāne, a representative of Liepāja City Council, informs that the residents of Liepāja have not been supplementing the statistics of Latvian Covid-19 patients for 12 days.

As previously reported, 19 cases of the new virus have been recorded in Liepaja. No one is in the hospital at the moment, all patients have been diagnosed with mild forms of the disease.

On the map of the counties placed on the website of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control, we can conclude that no new patients have appeared in the counties closest to Liepāja. So far, cases of Covid-19 have been detected in Durbe, Grobiņa, Aizpute and Priekule counties, where there are 1 to 5 patients in each.

Five Covid-19 patients have been hospitalized in the last 24 hours. A total of 42 patients were hospitalized, of whom 37 were moderate and five were severe. To date, 71 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from hospital.

It has already been reported that at a press conference on Tuesday, the Minister of Health Ilze Vīķele (AP) announced that 133 people have recovered from Covid-19 in Latvia so far, who will be removed from the new coronavirus patient register after receiving two negative test results after Covid-19 symptoms disappear.

According to Tuesday’s data, it can be concluded that less than 18% of Covid-19 patients have recovered.
