Rusal estimates impact of COVID-19 outbreak on aluminum market


In the first quarter of 2020, Rusal said on Monday, global demand for aluminum fell by 6.4% to 14.43 million tons, including 6.3% in China, to 7.83 million tons. in the rest of the world – by 6.5%, up to 6.6 million tons. In particular, among the sectors – consumers of aluminum, the transport sector turned out to be the most vulnerable due to the suspension of production at the plants of leading automakers in EuropeChina USA and other countries. And the launch of new models, including electric cars, was delayed until the end of the pandemic.
