Foreign seasonal agricultural workers who have arrived in Poland to earn money will be tested for coronavirus at state expense.
This was stated by Polish Minister of Agriculture Jan Krzysztof Ardanovsky, according to SadyOgrody.
According to the minister, zarobitchites will be able to start work immediately after arriving at an agricultural enterprise, and not after a 14-day quarantine.
“I have good news for farmers who legally work with foreigners: the state budget will pay for the tests they need,” Ardanovsky said.
The Minister added that foreigners who come to farms can perform work during quarantine from the first day of their stay, which is not the case in other industries.
In turn, the head of the Polish Association of Fruit and Vegetable Processors, the owner of one of the largest processing enterprises in Poland (Real SA) Andrzej Gajovnichek, the Polish labor market is dependent on labor migrants from Ukraine, especially during the fruit and vegetable harvest season. Without them, it will be very difficult to harvest.
Earlier it was reported that, starting from April 29, citizens of Ukraine started to get by mail Polish work visas.
It should be noted that according to the results of the first half of 2019, workers from Ukraine accounted for 90% of the submitted applications for employment for foreigners in Poland. In total, in the first half of the year 846 thousand of such applications were filed, which is approximately 13% more when compared with last year’s indicators.
