The Geneva-based organization, which represents 20 million nurses, has called on governments to protect their health and collect more data because the group has limited information.”Without this data, we do not know the real cost of COVID-19 and this will make us less able to fight other pandemics in the future,” ICN CEO Howard Catton said in a statement on Wednesday.
He also warned that infected health workers pose a risk to patients.
While the 230,000 figure is based on data collected from a limited number of countries, ICN estimates that the actual number is much higher – about 450,000.
