Romania has the steepest increase in the coronavirus infection curve in Eastern Europe

rumAnxiety is facing the sharpest increase in new cases of contamination with the new coronavirus in Eastern Europe. In addition, our country is now ranked 10th in the European Union in terms of the total number of cases, according to the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC).

Among the countries in the region, Romania has the highest growth curve, even exceeding the European average. By comparison, Slovakia has seen a decline in the number of cases, followed by a slight increase, and Hungary appears to have a flattened curve.

Poland, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria have also seen increases, but not as steep as Romania. In total, according to data from July 1 – the European Union, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom recorded 1,561,230 cases of infection with the new coronavirus.

Romania registers massive increases also at the level of regions, the only regions that register higher increases than those in Romania being in Sweden.
