Rosprirodnadzor postponed inspections of gold mining companies due to COVID-19 | News | News

After breaking the dams of Sisim LLC on the Ceiba River in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on October 19, 2019 and killing 17 people, Rosprirodnazor planned to inspect gold mining enterprises. The inspectors were supposed to begin this work in April 2020. However, the plans had to be adjusted due to the coronavirus epidemic, the department head Svetlana Radionova said in an interview with Izvestia.

“The plans were to check 80 subsoil users, but only three were succeeded. Now we are waiting for an order from the government for specific legal entities. We hope that the work will not be delayed for the winter, when it is impossible on most rivers. But we are extremely consistent and we won’t leave anywhere: not now, so we’ll definitely do it later, ”she said.

According to Svetlana Radionova, right now the right to use the subsoil of Sisim LLC at the emergency site has been terminated ahead of schedule, and 13 administrative cases have been opened against the subsoil user, and fines totaling 870 thousand rubles have been imposed. The damage caused by the accident to the rivers Ceiba and Sisim, the agency estimated at 363.5 million rubles. However, to date it has not been refunded. The company will appeal all fines in courts.
