The number of people infected with coronavirus in Moldova has exceeded 25,000 people, according to official data presented to Interfax on Saturday evening by the press service of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.
“Today, 2,322 tests were processed, of which 1,815 were primary tests. As a result, it turned out that 380 results were positive. Thus, the total number of registered cases of COVID-19 in Moldova is 25,113 people,” – said in a statement. message.
According to the Ministry of Health, another 302 patients were discharged from medical institutions. Thus, a total of 17 thousand 571 people were cured of the coronavirus. At the same time, 5 more patients who had previously been diagnosed with coronavirus died on Saturday. The total number of victims of the pandemic in Moldova has increased to 788 people.
After the coronavirus spread decreased in June and early July, the number of patients increased by about 25% in the last two weeks of July. In this regard, the National Commission for Public Health has decided to extend the emergency situation in the field of health until August 31.
This means that almost all the former restrictions remain – a ban on no more than three people, a ban on nightclubs, discos, restrictions for the elderly. The ban on opening children’s health camps, schools and kindergartens until September 1 is maintained, and self-isolation remains mandatory for 14 days for Moldovan citizens returning to the country.
On Friday, the Commission also announced the tightening of some measures and the introduction of previously lifted restrictions. In particular, from August 1, the operation of outdoor swimming pools, which were allowed to operate from July 15, is again prohibited.
