1,075 new cases. A new record of patients in Intensive Care

1,075 new cases of coronavirus were detected in Romania in the last 24 hours, out of 14,215 tests. Another 34 people died due to coronavirus infections, and 412 patients admitted to Intensive Care – a record number.

To date, on August 2, in Romania, 53,186 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed.

27,592 patients were declared cured and 4,777 asymptomatic patients were discharged 10 days after detection.

Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 1,075 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test. The distribution by counties of the total and new cases can be found in the table below.

To date, 2413 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection have died.

Between 1.08.2020 (10:00) – 2.08.2020 (10:00) there were 34 deaths (22 men and 12 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Argeș, Bacău, Brăila , Buzău, Călărași, Dâmbovița, Galați, Gorj, Mehedinți, Prahova, Teleorman, Timiș, Ilfov and Bucharest.

Of these, 4 deaths were recorded in the age category 50-59 years, 10 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 11 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 9 deaths in the age group over 80 years.

All 34 deaths were from comorbidities.

In the specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7,530. Of these, 412 patients are hospitalized at ATI.

To date, 1,240,273 tests have been processed at national level. Of these, 14,215 were performed in the last 24 hours, 8,525 based on the case definition and medical protocol, and 5,690 on request.

In Romania, 4,913 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home, and 5,454 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 17,114 people are in quarantine at home, and 59 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 711 calls were made to the unique emergency number 112.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 of 15.05.2020 regarding some measures for preventing and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and the gendarmerie applied, in the last 24 hours, 1,825 contravention sanctions, amounting to 561,425 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, a crime was found yesterday for thwarting the fight against diseases, a deed provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.

„We remind the citizens that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has operationalized, starting with 04.07.2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where violations of the sanitary protection norms can be notified. The calls are taken over by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified aspects ”, states the Strategic Communication Group.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 5,555 Romanian citizens were confirmed as infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,891 in Italy, 570 in Spain, 124 in France, 2,616 in Germany, 157 in the United Kingdom , 28 in Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in USA, 111 in Austria, 3 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 18 in Greece, 2 in Cyprus and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Sweden and the Republic of the Congo.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and until now, 123 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 9 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the USA, one in Brazil and one in the Republic of Congo, died.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 189 were declared cured: 159 in Germany, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
