The chief of staff of Brazilian President Zaich Bolsonaro, General Walter Souza Braga Neto, was diagnosed with COVID-19, became known today from his office and became the seventh Brazilian minister to be infected with the new coronavirus.
Braga Neto is in good health and has shown no symptoms, his office said in a statement. He will remain in isolation until he is re-examined and his condition is evaluated by doctors. He will continue to work from home.
Last week, Bolsonaro’s wife and one of his ministers were diagnosed with COVID-19. The president of Brazil also fell ill with the new coronavirus, but his latest tests show that he is no longer infected.
Brazil, the second country most affected by the pandemic in the world after the United States, counts more than 2.73 million cases of the new coronavirus and 94,104 deaths.
