LIVE | Italian research points to greater spread of coronavirus Inland

Nearly one and a half million Italians, or 2.5 percent of the population, have produced antibodies against the corona virus. That is six times the official number of contamination cases, now 248,229. The Istatistical Statistical Office and the Ministry of Health announced this on Monday. They based on serological tests of 64,660 individuals who have donated blood for this.

The researchers found large regional differences. In Lombardy, where the epidemic broke out in February, 7.5 percent of the population tested positive for antibodies to the new coronavirus. In Sicily this was only 0.3 percent.

The report further states that 30 percent of people whose immune systems had acted had no symptoms. That says something about the significant risk of the virus spreading by people who don’t know they are infected.
