A number of footballers or staff members of Ajax have been infected with the corona virus. This has been shown by tests that were carried out in mid-June.

According to The Telegraph it concerns a total of thirteen people. A spokesman for Ajax does not want to confirm that number. He can say that in mid-June almost ninety footballers, staff members and other persons were tested around the selections of Ajax and Jong Ajax. Thus, a number of them have found antibodies against corona.

It is unclear where and how all victims were infected. Nor do they have had symptoms of the lung virus. In all likelihood, they contracted the virus before June. The gates of De Toekomst sports park remained locked for about a month and a half after the premier division and first division were demolished in March due to the pandemic.

At the moment, no one at Ajax is infected with the corona virus, a spokesperson reports.
