Ajax was hit by corona virus: ‘But no one is infected anymore’ | NOW

Thirteen people at Ajax have been infected with the coronavirus, reports The Telegraph Tuesday. It concerns players and staff members from the first and second team of the club from Amsterdam.

“It is true that a number of players and staff have had the coronavirus,” spokesman Miel Brinkhuis told the newspaper. He cannot confirm the numbers and does not comment on names.

“I want to emphasize that at the moment no one has corona and – except André Onana, who has mild ankle complaints – everyone was present on the training on Tuesday.”

In the results of tests that approximately ninety people underwent at Ajax in June, thirteen people were found to have antibodies against the corona virus in their blood.

The Telegraph further writes that it is unclear where the infections have occurred and that none of the infected persons has had corona complaints or has been seriously ill.

Ajax, like all other Eredivisie clubs, is currently preparing for the start of the new season. The team of trainer Erik ten Hag will play the first exhibition match of the preparation in the Johan Cruijff ArenA against RKC Waalwijk on Saturday – without an audience.
