Braga Netto became the seventh minister in the Brazilian government to be diagnosed with COVID-19. Two ministers contracted the coronavirus in early March after returning from the United States, where they flew as part of a delegation that accompanied President Jair Bolsonaro. Five ministers were diagnosed with the disease after the head of state announced the positive test results for COVID-19. Last week, the first lady of the country, Michelle Bolsonaro, was also diagnosed with coronavirus.

According to the Brazilian Ministry of Health, on August 3, 2.75 million people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the country since February, 1.9 million have already recovered, 94.7 thousand have died. Over the past day, 16.6 thousand people fell ill here, 561 Brazilians died.
