Coronavirus in Germany and Poland: The number of newly infected is rising sharply

Eight more people have died from complications accompanying covid-19, introduced by the Robert Koch Institute.

Already on Thursday, the number of new infections exceeded one thousand for the first time in three months, namely 1,045. A total of 214,214 people became infected in Germany, 9183 of whom died.

German Health Minister Jens Spahn said on Thursday that despite the current rise in the number of infected people, the critical limit has not been exceeded. “At the moment, we are sticking to numbers that healthcare can handle,” he said.

However, he said that “if the numbers increase, it will be up to all of us to take care of ourselves and thus avoid further measures” against the spread of the disease.

Poland today reported 809 new cases of coronavirus infection. Another 13 people succumbed to the infection. This is the highest daily increase in infection since the onset of the epidemic, the second highest was reported on Thursday, when there were 726 new cases, introduced TVN 24 with reference to the Ministry of Health. This is the sixth record daily increase in two weeks, Reuters reported.

Altogether, in a country of approximately 38 million people since the beginning of the pandemic, infection has been confirmed in 50,324 people, of whom 1,787 died.

Coronavirus is spread mainly in Silesia, which borders the Czech Republic and which is struggling with the spread of the disease in coal mines.

The Polish government is considering introducing more stringent measures in the most affected regions to increase the number of cases, such as reducing the number of guests at wedding celebrations, which have often been outbreaks of disease in recent weeks.
