The total number of people confirmed with the new coronavirus in Romania reached 62,547 on Monday, August 10, after the confirmation of another 779 new cases. Another 29 people lost their lives, bringing the total death toll among Covid patients to 2,729. Another 476 people are in serious condition hospitalized in intensive care units. 6,607 tests were performed.

To date, on August 10, in Romania, 62,547 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed. 30,311 patients were declared cured and 6,497 asymptomatic patients were discharged 10 days after detection.Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 779 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test.

29 new deaths among Covid patients

To date, 2,729 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection have died.

Between 09.08.2020 (10:00) – 10.08.2020 (10:00) were registered 29 deaths (18 men and 11 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Arges , Bacau, Braila, Buzau, Dambovita, Galati, Gorj, Hunedoara, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Timis, Valcea, Vaslui and Bucharest.

Of these, 1 death was registered in the age category 20-29 years, 1 in the category 30-39 years, 1 death in the age category 40-49 years, 2 deaths in the age category 50-59 years, 9 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 9 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 6 deaths in the category over 80 years.

28 of the registered deaths are of some patients who presented comorbidities, and for a deceased patient no comorbidities have been reported so far.

In the specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7,763. Of these, 476 are hospitalized at ATI.


Less than 5,000 tests performed based on the case definitionTo date, 1,385,334 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 6,607 were performed in the last 24 hours, 4,738 based on the case definition and the medical protocol, and 1,869 upon request.

On the Romanian territory, 7,229 people confirmed with infection with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 5,373 people are in institutionalized isolation. Also, 20,898 people are in quarantine at home, and in institutionalized quarantine there are 156 people.

Over 1,500 fines imposed

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law no. 55 of 15.05.2020 regarding some measures for preventing and combating the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 1,519 sanctions for minor offenses, amounting to 429,450 lei.

Also, through the competent structures of the Police, a crime was found yesterday to thwart the fight against diseases, the deed provided and punished by art. 352 Penal Code.

Over 5,500 Romanians from abroad confirmed with the new coronavirus

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, 5,627 Romanian citizens were confirmed to be infected with COVID-19 (coronavirus): 1,891 in Italy, 570 in Spain, 124 in France, 2,672 in Germany, 157 in Great Britain , 28 in Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in USA, 111 in Austria, 17 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Switzerland, 2 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 18 in Greece, 2 in Cyprus and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Ireland, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Brazil, India, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Sweden, the Republic of Congo, Hungary and Qatar. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic (coronavirus) and until now, 123 Romanian citizens abroad, 31 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 9 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, one in Sweden, one in Switzerland, one in the United States, one in Brazil and one in the Republic of Congo, have died.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus, 189 were declared cured: 159 in Germany, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg and one in Tunisia.
