Due to the epidemic that spread all over the world, radical changes have occurred in people’s lives.
In tourism, which is one of the sectors affected by the epidemic, now vacationers have started to prefer more isolated alternatives instead of mass tourism.
Demand for bungalows, villas and boutique hotels has increased, and it has become difficult to find vacancies in tent and caravan camps due to the pandemic.
There was also an increase in the sales of foldable chairs, which are indispensable for the camp.
When citizens turned to camping chairs, not only for camping, but also for sitting in nature and having a picnic, producers had difficulty in keeping up with the demand.
Murat Eren, Chairman of the Board of Eren Madeni Eşya, who has been producing camping chairs in İzmir for about 20 years, said that the sales have increased this much for the first time.
“We can’t keep up with the demand”
Pointing out that the concept of social distance has entered into human life due to the epidemic, Eren said, “People want to spend time away from facilities and crowded environments, to get air. This has increased our chair sales. There is an increase of 300 percent in our sales compared to last year. Not only us, but everyone who does this job is the same. he says. We cannot respond to the request. ” he spoke.
In previous years, mainly in the coastal areas in the provinces it is that they do sales, while this year voiced a request from Turkey’s 81 provinces.
Emphasizing that citizens use camping chairs not only in camps and picnics, but also on the balcony of their homes, Eren said:
“Because of the pandemic in domestic production it was also very large increases. Normally in Turkey annual 2.5 – 3. The million sales were made. Previously it’s a large part of imports is. However, both the increasing demand both very significant increase in domestic production with no shortage of supply of products from abroad there is.”
Explaining that they produce for big chain stores and sell some products on the internet, Eren expressed that they expect the sales to continue increasingly.
“Plus 40 people were employed”
Expressing that they heard about layoffs in some workplaces due to the epidemic, Eren said, “In our case, the opposite is the case. We have provided more employment. We recruited about 40 people in this process.” said.
