Paris declared “red” zone due to COVID-19


The French government has declared Paris and the Bouches-du-Rhone area in the prefecture of Marseille on the Mediterranean coast as “red” zones with a significant spread of coronavirus infection.

According to the government decree, local authorities now have the authority to limit the number of people in public places, buildings and vehicles and air travel, as well as to close some establishments where there is a high risk of contracting COVID-19.

It is noted that these measures are the result of a sharp increase in cases of COVID-19 over the past two weeks.

According to Worldometer, as of August 14, 209 365 COVID-19 infections were recorded in France, of which 30 388 people died, 83 472 recovered.

In total, more than 21 million patients with coronavirus infection have been registered in the world.
