Purchases Covid-19 vaccines from J&J and Novavax


Two more deals to supply vaccines against Covid-19 signed by the British government, buying vaccines under development from the American pharmaceutical companies Johnson & Johnson and Novavax As Katie Bingham, the head of the British vaccine taskforce, told Sky News.

In a separate statement, Novavax said the UK will buy 60 million installments of its candidate coronavirus vaccine, NVX-CoV373, for phase 3 clinical trials in the country.

Meanwhile, the European Commission announced yesterday that it has completed exploratory talks with Johnson & Johnson γthe purchase of a possible vaccine against Covid-19.

Ms. Stella Kyriakidis, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, said in a statement that the talks were aimed at reaching an ex-ante Purchase Agreement, which could enable all EU member states to purchase the vaccine, as well as to donate to lower and middle income countries, or redirect it to countries in the European Economic Area.

The contract framework will facilitate a initial purchase of 200 million installments on behalf of all EU Member States and could be purchased additional 200 million doses vaccine, according to the announcement.
