Ukraine has recorded a record 1,732 cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total toll from the pandemic outbreak to 87,872, local authorities said on Friday, quoted by EFE.

According to the National Council in charge of monitoring the situation caused by the new coronavirus, the record previously recorded, on August 13, was 1,592 cases of COVID-19.The highest number of cases in a single day was reported in the Kharkov (205), Lviv (186) and Odessa (160) regions.

158 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the Ukrainian capital Kiev.

Deaths associated with COVID-19 infection in a single day amounted to 19, according to official sources, bringing the total number of deaths associated with this disease to 2,011.

Ukrainian Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said on Thursday that the authorities expected to resume their own production of vaccines in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“If one country has its own vaccine production, it is less dependent on the others,” Stepanov was quoted as saying by Korrespondent.net, noting that during the Soviet Union, Ukraine had a “very solid” scientific basis and could produce vaccines. .
