Following the tests performed at national level, compared to the last report, 1,392 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, these being cases that had not previously had a positive test, according to the Group of Strategic Communication.
To date, on August 21, in Romania, 76,355 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed. 34,523 patients were declared cured and 8,991 asymptomatic patients were discharged 10 days after detection. To date, 3,196 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection have died.
Between 20.08.2020 (10:00) – 21.08.2020 (10:00) there were registered 42 deaths (25 men and 17 women), of some patients infected with the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Argeș, Bihor, Brăila , Brașov, Buzău, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Gorj, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iași, Mehedinți, Mureș, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Tulcea, Vaslui.
Of these, 1 death was recorded in the age category 30-39 years, 2 deaths in the age category 40-49 years, 2 in the category 50-59 years, 13 deaths in the age category 60-69 years, 8 deaths in the age category 70-79 years and 16 deaths in the category over 80 years.
38 of the registered deaths were of patients who had comorbidities, one deceased patient did not show comorbidities, and for three deceased patients no comorbidities have been reported so far.

In the health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 7,303. Of these, 497 are hospitalized at ATI.
To date, 1,616,378 tests have been processed at the national level. Of these, 25,363 were performed in the last 24 hours, 14,242 based on the case definition and medical protocol, and 11,121 upon request.
In Romania, 10,599 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are in isolation at home, and 5,601 people are in institutional isolation. Also, 30,166 people are in quarantine at home, and 10 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
