The pregnant woman’s condition deteriorated in late August. She was hospitalized in the maternity ward on suspicion of COVID-19. The PCR test was positive. Bilateral pneumonia was also diagnosed. At the 31st week of pregnancy, the Lviv resident was transferred to the intensive care unit and connected to a ventilator. But in two days the child’s heart stopped beating.
Currently, according to doctors, the mother is in a stable serious condition.
“Unfortunately, the baby could not be saved, he died as a result of hypoxic damage, ie oxygen saturation of the blood was insufficient for the fetus,” – told TSN Deputy Chief Physician of Lviv Clinical Ambulance Ivan Miskiv.
